How can kids have fun in an eco-friendly Songkran?

Updated: Apr 14, 2019

Yes, I know Songkran is a wet💧wet💧wet festival but...

we, parents, always teach them to #save #water for the Earth sake. My kids' school also refrains from letting children make a #splash in #Songkran activity at school. If we prepare buckets of water for them to splash anybody passing our house gate, I think they might get confused what the water saving really is. However, remaining dry during this long & hottest☀️ holiday is kind of another sad story for my kids. And I would say how they could get inspired to protect the nature 💧if they haven't known yet how full of joy it can offer.

So, the solution I prefer to do and would like to suggest any family for the #sustainable Songkran is...

💧let them use a water gun instead of a bucket or a hose and fill up the tank only once.

💧play Songkran in a pool!!! or in a sea. Obviously, we can use the pool water or sea water. The environment will thank you.

💧Furthermore, interestingly, some well-known attractions are hosting free pool parties and children can join in one place like Mega Bangna or some hotels such as Hardrock Pattaya presenting Songkran Family Foam party.

💧Enjoy more traditional Songkran activities in a departmentstore where they set up bathing rite for Bhudda images and forming sand pagodas.

Last year, my daughter was forming sand pagodas at Central Westgate Departmentstore.

This year, my two kids are big enough to attend water fight in public. Therefore, I'm planning to take them to somewhere official for the safety. As far as I could say, wandering along any road and making a splash on each other is not a good idea. Differently, #Silom Rd., #Khaosan Rd., #LumpiniPark, #Siamsquare, #Asiatique, #Iconsiam or most tourist spots in #Pattaya #ChiangMai, #KhonKaen, #Udonthani, #Ayutthaya, etc, are organized and in control by the authorities so we can somewhat rely on the water cleanliness the fighters use and the good manner they will act toward parents with children.

Here is the checklist before going to Splash War!

☑️Water guns

☑️Colorful outfits

☑️Sunscreen

☑️A plastic or waterproof bag for wallet, phone, ID cards and dry clothes (Noted that soaked passengers are not allowed into BTS skytrain or MRT subway!)

Happy Songkran everyone!
